Before/After

What exactly is a deep-plane facelift?

A deep-plane facelift is an advanced surgical procedure designed to address the visible signs of facial aging comprehensively. Unlike traditional facelifts, this technique involves repositioning and tightening not only the skin but also the deeper facial structures, including the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) layer. By lifting and repositioning these deeper tissues, a deep-plane facelift provides longer-lasting results and a more natural appearance. Additionally, anatomical elements like the malar fat pad are repositioned, and key ligaments of the face are released, allowing for a comprehensive rejuvenation of the midface and jowls. This procedure is highly effective at reducing sagging skin, deep wrinkles, and restoring youthful contours, making it a popular choice for individuals seeking a significant and lasting facial transformation.

What kind of result can I expect?

This type of facelift can achieve an impressive rejuvenation effect, typically turning back the clock by 10 to 15 years. This results in a long-lasting outcome, often for the next 10 years, depending on the patient's genetics and lifestyle.

Is there scars for the facelift?

Yes, the incisions for this procedure are strategically placed in hidden locations, such as within the hairline and inside the ears, to minimize visible scarring

I heard about the mini-lift, what is it?

The mini-lift is a trend procedure. It's a less effective procedure due to its limited impact. Unlike more comprehensive facelift techniques, the mini-facelift only addresses the skin, resulting in visible scars without significant repositioning of the deeper anatomical elements. This can lead to outcomes that may not fully meet the patient's expectations for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

i am too scared by the general anesthesia, can I do threads instead?

Absolutely not, threads are considered one of the riskier facial rejuvenation techniques. This method carries a heightened risk of complications, exceeding 30% when compared to facelift procedures, which have a complication rate of less than 3%. Additionally, the outcomes of thread treatments tend to be minimal. Threads induce inflammation in the tissues, temporarily providing a more youthful appearance due to water retention. However, this inflammation can lead to the development of fibrotic tissue beneath the skin, causing permanent damage to underlying structures like muscles and fat compartments. Ultimately, this results in scar tissue formation that cannot be easily corrected through further procedures.

The facelift procedure can indeed be performed under local anesthesia, eliminating the potential risks associated with general anesthesia. To achieve this, a combination of local anesthetic products is used to provide an extended numbing effect. During the procedure, the patient remains awake, similar to a dental procedure, but they do not experience any pain, ensuring a comfortable and safe surgical experience.

Can I combine eyelid surgery with a facelift?

Yes, it's possible and it's a smart decision to combine various types of facial procedures, including eyelid surgery (both upper and lower blepharoplasty), temporal lift, lip lift, buccal fat pad removal, and face fat transfer, to achieve a comprehensive facial rejuvenation tailored to individual goals and needs.

When can I resume sport activities?

It's important for patients to understand that the recovery period can vary, and returning to physical activity should be a gradual process. Typically, light activities, such as walking, can be resumed within a few days post-surgery, aiding circulation and recovery. However, it's crucial to avoid strenuous activities, especially those that involve the chest muscles like weight lifting for at least four to six weeks. This allows the implants to properly settle and the incision sites to heal. High-impact activities, such as running or jumping, should be reintroduced slowly and only after one month after the surgery.

What are the risks of deep-plane facelift?

Combining multiple facial procedures, such as eyelid surgery (upper and lower blepharoplasty), temporal lift, lip lift, buccal fat pad removal, and face fat transfer, can yield transformative results. However, it's essential to be aware of potential risks and complications associated with these combined treatments. These may include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, nerve injury, and dissatisfaction with the outcomes. The extent of risk can vary based on factors like individual health, surgical technique, and the surgeon's expertise. To minimize these risks and optimize results, thorough pre-operative consultations and close post-operative care are crucial.
